November 1, 2015
Seems I am going to have to post at night since I can't seem to get all my desires done during the day. So I'll be a day behind. No worries thou I have always been a day late and dollar short.
My youtube channel Mimi's musings has not been active for about a month maybe with very little action. I know that followers prefer continuous postings but this is for fun and some weeks there isn't much to jabber about.
I like to think that people don't want to waste their precious time so I will try to be quick and simple.
Thanks for reading, thanks for watching. I am planning to do a calender to send away to my niece and nephew so come over and watch me try to dothat this month. TTFN

I am a craft hoarder
Every time I read or watch someone in a magazine, on TV or YouTube I immediately want to go buy those products. When someone lists the products they used and say I have included the website where you can buy these items. CLICK, I'm there and there is always some interesting things I don't have yet. In some cases I do have them already and they exist somewhere in my closet or drawers. Now I have every intention of completing the tasks that I set my little heart to do but then I'm off to work and when I finally get time to actually do what I intended I see something new and exciting to do.
So what do I do?
Is there a 12 step program for craft addicts? (don't say that too fast) Now I'm not going to stop anytime soon reading or watching my favorite arty people. But I have to get a handle on my purchases. I decided to create my own 6 step program, I'm not sure I can even think of 12 steps so here is 6 if your interested.
1) Be realistic, make list of what I want to do for this year.
More often than not I am interested in everything. But not everything is interesting. So I have to choose wisely. What will I spend my time doing? jewelry making, drawing, journals, clay creatures, gifts, painting, watercolors, colored pencil drawings, gourd art, crochet jewelry, needlepoint crafts.
2) Stop procrastinating! Get started on some of those projects. Make it a priority. Create Art every free moment! Drawing in the living room, crafts outside on the deck and polymer clay in the art room
3) Don't rush to buy. If it's not on my agenda to use right now. -Unless it's something I use and it's on-sale or I have a coupon.
4) Before I buy make sure it can do double duty. Can I use it for more than one project? Of course!
5) Do I have something that can substitute. Does it have to be that product? Probably but I can't find it.
6) Wait 24 hours before purchasing.Unless it's a sale and the coupon is only good for one day.
Why do I try? I think I'll just stop feeling guilty. I think there's a sale at Michael's and I have a coupon. See ya.

#lovesummerart amazing
This youtube event is so exciting. In search put in #lovesummerart and all the creative artsy people who are involved will have new posts about their process and art and crafts and creating musings. It's for anyone who is looking loving and longing for artistic creative videos.
I for one cannot get through it all in one sitting. One moment I'm on a video and the next I want to created then I want to go see what's happening next.
The best bet is to go and like the video's so you can go back and finish watching them. I also think that putting in the media you would like to see is also helpful for example; #lovesummerart polymer clay.... of #lovesummerart acrylic painings. see? You can try everyday this weekend and it will be different each day.
I am so stoked about this I can't stop checking the channel. Come on and join

allergies everywhere
In my case that allergy was triggered by the products used in the acrylic nails practice. So, everyone who apparently knew better than I said why weren't you wearing gloves? Isn't it wonderful when you can admonish someone after the fact? Gotta love humanity they love to kick you when your down. In an effort to make them look worried and caring they tell you how stupid you were for not being prepared.
The honest truth is that I have never had an allergic reaction from the acrylic nails. I would get them myself and nothing happened. When the demonstration for acrylic nails happened in school, not one teacher wore gloves. Now that doesn't mean I shouldn't be prepared it just means that when recreating the process gloves were not first on list.
Ok so now I know that the time I spent practicing with the acrylic and filing that dust on my hands created a tipping point where I woke up with swollen hands and that awful painful itch that nothing not even threat of death stopped me from scratching.
Then all of a sudden everyone is shocked and wondered why I didn't wear gloves. Look folks, some people wear gloves and if I thought I might get a reaction I would have had them on double! No one in their right mind want to have any thing horrible happen to them, especially hands. Think about it, everything I do involves the use of your hands. I felt like a toddler trying to open jars or water bottles. Dropping things left and right thinking I had them firmly in my fat little fingers.
Yes, I saw my doctor or at least the one on call since I didn't care who saw me as long as they went to medical school and passed. They checked my lungs cause I had an awful cough with itching in my ears and throat. As well as the swelling and itch on my hands. I was prescribed a lotion and a nasal spray.
I am now fully equipped with gloves and a mask when I do my acrylics I will be doing them at least one for the test for manicurists. Then maybe that will be it, but there are so many cute things you can do with this product.

april showers
My creative juicies have been stirred by several arty people. Jennibellie who is a blogger, youtuber and occasional guest artist for other blogs and such is and was my first youtube inspirator. Sounds rather dark doesn't it? She is anything but. She has a personality that inspires you to grab a pencil some recyclables and get going.
The next fabulous online arty mentor is Tamara Laporte and she also has a few wonderfully silly upbeat youtube demos. Her site is willowing arts and the year long project I did last year called lifebook 2014. Now that really helped my art to expand because she had different artists who made you stretch yourself. (jennibellie was one!)
Then Jane Davenport who I absolutely love love love her playfullnes. Plus she has a cutie pie dog name Gesso. (Don't be jealous Sweepie I still love you too -jenniebellies beautiful boy) I have taken soecific art classes online with Jane and I so enjoy watching her I feel like Im at the beach too.
This year I gave myself the gift of a year long class with polymerclay. This is a clss similar to Lifebook in the sense that it has a few artists teaching with different techniques and I have enjoyed it simply because it brings my art to 3d. This is the first year and it is the polymerclay retreat.
If you type in those you will find the link. Sorry for not having them to post but im not too savvy on the ipad. if i knew people read this Id be more inclined to be accurate.
so there is absolutely no reason for anyone to feel they cant learn online these all are available so e have live programs and some don't it also opens up our community to the world. I have been a part of the polymer clay swap and have been so excited to recieve mail again.

polymer clay adventur virtual retreat
I have become so enamored with this process that I sit up at night watching others youtube channels for more inspiration. the best part is sharing with each other. We just swaped inchies which is an 1inch square design made with polumer clay. We are now making fairy doors for a swap. I am so excited to see the next one. plus each week you meet a new artist, then a new project and technique. some things I liked learning about but not interested in doing it myself. that is the beauty. i have the information but I dont have to make anything that I dont want to. I can spend that time fine tuning something Im loving or even make a fast pair of earrings.
I find that I can get immediate satisfaction with the clay. Love it. I will post a few pictures of my latest endevors.

Fairies, Fun and Failures?
I know I know how can I be a blogger if all I do is one post in a billion days! The whole process of posting should be one that has interesting information but sometimes we get sidetracked. Right?
Enough said about that! So on to the fairies! YAY
Cute but again lacking in the department of giving instructions. So below is my updated version of how to accomplish the fairy I developed.
Remember that sometimes what is in your head isn't always going to develop with the materials you have on hand. The way you manipulate the items you have impact the design but also so does materials and fate. YES fate! I have found through lucky accidents that sometimes my designs are better for the accidents.
Now maybe your not as happy when what your doing doesn't work out to the design you had in mind but consider this maybe it's not supposed to. I know bad grammar.
If not for these happy accidents how would I have figured out some of the designs I have done? It's possible that it's a part of the exploration of art itself requires fails. I should be the grans master of art then, because I have failed more often then I feel I have succeeded.
Give your self time to learn about the materials you are working with. If you have never played with clay, how do you expect to understand the properties of clay? I am still learning about timing and baking temperatures. I have played with clay and enjoy trying out new designs but if I want a completed project that has little errors I have to go back to what I have put more time in and that is beading.
Even then when I bead a item one slip up and I have to start over again.
It's our nature to fail. We have to to develop our creative side. If every time we did something and it came out perfectly we would not be curious, we would not be tenacious, we would be boring little entities.
Keep trying, hugs
Mimi

Winter Blues
Just on my way home from going to visit family on the east coast. I have some time since my plane got on late and now I have to wait to board the next flight out. This gives me time to think. Surrounded by strangers I can't get distracted so I think about everything I learned this week. The latest discovery brings tears to my eyes every time I think about it. There really isn't anything that can be done about it now but my heart hurts so much.
I have to stop now maybe I'll post it soon.
