#4thsaturdayart hop

Bet you don't know what that is. #4thsaturdayart hop is. It is a collaboration between fellow artists and every 4th Saturday (everything being good that is) we post an art challenge. More or less. Some if they are not happy with the challenge choose to do their own thing. So actually it's what works for anyone. I had stepped away for a little while and decided I needed to get my mojo back and doing monthly hops helps me.

So if you stumbled in here welcome, let me tell you where this all started.

Meri is also known as https://www.youtube.com/c/TheMeriAtelier  invited anyone who was interested in joining on this adventure through Creative Arts Collaboration facebook which I am also a member of. There are many different collaborations that have occurred. I was a part of a group when I lived in California and we did some things monthly as well but we were a very small group. I was the smallest channel. I still am a small channel but I am very proud that even though things have happened and I have changed the way I do my channel I am still plugging away.

If you would like to see some of the work we have done start here at this past weekend's hop. When you do stop by clicking the thumbs-up or down button. Comment in the comment sections just even to say hi and then subscribe if you would like to see more of that creator's content.

See you every 4th Saturday!

About me

Crafting since the dawn of time.

Yes, I am old; I come from a time when such things as Michaels, JoAnn's, let alone Amazon, did not exist.

I had to create things from cardboard, string, and masking tape. There were no such things as YouTube where you could find out how to do anything. It was created and failed on your own. Took me years to figure out Gingerbread houses were not made from real Gingerbread! But I digress.

Crafting has always been a way for me to entertain myself as an only child of neglectful parents. As a preteen, I created my own paper doll clothes. It frustrated me that they didn't have backs, so I made them so that they wrapped around. Fail! Then, I built an appropriately sized dollhouse for my Penny Bright doll. She was a 6-inch tall doll. I felt that she needed an apartment. So I made one for her out of a cardboard box. My dad promptly threw it away. Long story and you thought you had problems!

At 14, I learned to knit from my aunt, and then I taught myself embroidery and crocheting from a magazine. Yes, we read to figure things out, believe it or not. At school, I learned how to sew and make my own clothes. They don't teach that anymore.

When I was old enough to go to classes, I found many people the same as me. Amazingly, they too gather all the things needed to do a hobby, and then once mastered, they find a new hobby. I thought I was the only one who did that. MY PEOPLE.

Now I am here with a YouTube channel, a blog, and, god knows, a house full of materials I could open my own craft business.

I have a family of craftspeople, too. Apparently, my dad is where I got this from, and I have passed this obsession on to my children. You are welcome, kids, and we all make different things, and I am very proud of all of them.

Things are about to change

 Hello, all my crafty friends,

If you have subscribed to me, here on the blog because I am a Stampin'Up! Demonstrator, I wanted to give you fair notice. I hope you will stay after you read this, but I will understand if you don't.

Updating the blog regularly has been hard for me, which causes me a lot of stress and guilt. By the time I figure out what to do and get it uploaded well, it seems I'm always late to the party. It's important that the information gets out there and be accurate and timely. If I were looking at this as a subscriber, I would say GF get it together!

And so I will.

So my decision is to change my format, which will not feature Stampin'Up! in the blog. Although I will still provide crafty goodness, I will remove the sidebars and change the name to be clear. Since I always forget to upload a new hostess code or keep up with the sales details. It's probably not informative to anyone, and it causes me to feel totally inadequate.

My plan is to just make this an area where I can post ideas and be a possible landing page for patterns from videos. Things that are not necessarily time-sensitive.

Will I still be posting papercrafts? Of course, duh!  I also want to share other parts of my crafting experience as well. Think of me as your creative coach; I want to inspire others. That's always been my dream.

Feel free to comment. I'd like to know what you think, and if you are leaving, please post something so I can thank you for being here and say goodbye.

Inspired by

Inspired by Sam Calcott from the UK here is my version made with an 8-1/2 x 11” cardstock

My live video is available on my Facebook.com/creativemix12 although I do have some problems see how I work through it and avoid my mistakes.

Here are all the boxes even though I had some problems during my live broadcast it still worked out. Here are the measurements

Using an 8.5” x11” card-stock score on the 11” side at 1”*3.25”*5.5”*7.75”*10”

On the 8.5” side score at 2”*6.5”

Fold on the score lines and cut as shown. Make sure to cut evenly and wedge slightly on the folds.

Fold and glue back to center first.

Then front to center overlapping the 1” overhang to the insides

The insert is 8” x4”

Scored on the 8”side at 2” from either end then on the 4” side at 2”

Cut only to the first score line from the short ends

Glue edges and cut across

Attach to top of box making sure to center it.

Measure and cut mats and apply to the box the way you prefer. 4-3/8ths x 2-1/8ths

2-1/8ths x 3-14/16ths for the inside piece

Sides 2-1/8ths x 2-1/8th for the sides

The PDF is available for a short time download and print it will be gone soon.

Inside the card I put a white card stock with one of the smaller butterflies.

Here you can clearly see the intricate die cut is attached at the center of the butterfly.

I used the left over pieces from the die cut (larger one) on the DSP and it is just under 1 inch. if you need exact it's roughly 3/4-1"

Here I used the thank you sentiment from another stamp set called Peaceful Moments. The Butterfly Bouquet stamp set has no sentiments so choose your own. I think this one goes beautifully.
